deMichelle, along with her original passion for dance has also been passionate about writing and storytelling. She describes herself as an author who has a lifelong story to share with the world.

As part of her writing process, she immerses herself in her memoirs—diving into her own mind and sorting a mass of attitudes, behaviors, words and silences that speak louder than the written word.  She feels that she has many memories that are worthy of retelling.​​ Some of the topics are difficult to write about but this is also a therapeutic process that will turn her world around.
